STUDENT SPOTLIGHT
THUY TRAN
President of Vietnamese Student Association

The Center for Student Programs honors the President of the Vietnamese Student Association (VSA), Thuy Tran. Her dedication and leadership to VSA has given Georgetown a taste of Vietnamese/Vietnamese American culture, history, and social issues. The end of this semester is the organization’s inaugural first year, and already VSA is known for hosting events such as Pho Fest, where students can eat the traditional Vietnamese beef noodle soup, and panel discussion series, where students can discuss current social issues in Vietnam and how that affects the Vietnamese American community here.
Thuy is an astounding leader on campus. Her good-natured personality and commitment to diversity is reflective within VSA. She has set the precedent for VSA to be an inclusive organization, ready to collaborate with other organizations on campus and in the community. In addition to VSA, Thuy is the Outreach Chair of the Asian American Student Association (AASA), an active member of the Black Theatre Ensemble (BTE), and you can see her involved in about any other diversity related organizations and events.
